Reflection
I enjoyed being able to turn to an area so rich with history and culture as a backbone for this final phase of the project. Other than employing a variety of industrial materials that I hadn't explored before as a response to the roots of this urban environment, I was able to learn more about the intricacies behind designing spaces for the visually impaired.
Designing for universal accessibility had always been an aspect that I had tried to explore in my previous designs, but it was for this project that I researched first-hand accounts and experiences of blind people to aid in designing a building that would be navigable through the senses other than sight.
Through an emphasis on the layering of spaces of different sizes and levels of enclosure, I would consider my first attempt at properly designing these sorts of spaces somewhat satisfactory. I will certainly explore the possibilities of this in the future.
