Project 3

Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality + Context + User

60% Individual
This project is a continutation of the previous Assignment 2. Alongside our observatory post, we had to design a hideout retreat for a select 4 users including ourselves.

Reflection

We were given much more time for this assignment than our previous project (which admittedly led to a bit of laxness in terms of our working timeline, but that was a learning experience) which allowed us to really finetune our designs.

Looking back on this, I ended up getting much more absorbed into the story and intention for the users of this design than I thought I would. I had simply chosen my old school friends as the users on a whim, but I soon found myself imagining every little detail of this retreat as if I were actually going to build it plank by plank myself. I saw myself and my friends in every space that I designed for this project, and perhaps that could be considered my biggest strength of my work this project, and hopefully in the ones to come. There were a few practical details and design choices that could be improved on, so I will keep that in mind in the future.
